Ice Skating Fundraiser
A Slippery Success!
This weekend on Saturday December 21st, we took part in the Lawrence Winterfest at the Civic Plaza Pop-Up Rink, where we hosted an Ice Skating Volunteer Fundraiser. The event was a huge success, combining the thrill of ice skating with a great cause: raising funds to help cover the State Thespian and hotel fees for our students.
First and foremost, a heartfelt thank you to Emery Frazier, our Social Advisor, Ade Shreve, our dedicated Vice President, and new IDC parent Kami Lubinski for volunteering their time to take on shifts and ensure everything ran smoothly throughout the event. Their dedication to supporting our students, even through the chilly day truly made a difference.
A special shout-out goes to President Willa Cortez and Social Advisor Teagan Cortez for sticking around for the entire event to support their Directors, Amanda and Rai. Their commitment to staying the entire time, along with their enthusiasm and leadership, set the tone for the day’s success. Plus, we can’t forget about the Cortez Crew for hitting the ice with their skates on and bringing along some friends to join in on the fun! Your participation and energy were invaluable.
We also want to extend our gratitude to Rose Kolterman, who brought some of her crew to skate with us. Your support is always appreciated, and it was fantastic to see everyone having a great time on the rink.
A big thank you to Cara and Guin, two of our future IDC members, who not only shared our fundraiser post on social media but also came out to skate and show their support. Your enthusiasm and community spirit are exactly what make IDC so special!
It’s fundraisers like this one that help us cover the costs of events like the State Thespian Conference, including hotel fees for our students. So, if you’re staying in a hotel during the state conference, be sure to thank all the incredible volunteers and supporters when you see them. Their hard work and dedication helped us raise $589 toward our hotel costs, which will directly benefit our students attending the state conference. That’s a huge win for our community!
Thank you again to everyone who helped make this event a success, from the volunteers, to the skaters , to all those who shared the event and supported our cause. We couldn’t have done it without you, and we look forward to more events like this in the future as we continue to support the talented students of the Indiana Drama Club. We hope to make this a yearly tradition.
