Oh! The Drama: A Night to Remember at Indiana Drama Club’s 2nd Annual Event
What a night! The Indiana Drama Club (IDC) pulled off an unforgettable evening at our 2nd Annual Oh! the Drama event on January 10, 2025, despite the chilly, snowy weather that made traveling a bit treacherous. While the storm and sickness kept some of our performers home and reduced our usual audience turnout, the spirit of the evening remained strong and vibrant. Inside, it was all warmth, laughter, and celebration as we showcased the hard work and dedication of our students and community.
A Night Full of Talent and Celebration
The event featured performances from all of our Thespy entries and the exciting Tech Challenge for the upcoming State Thespian Conference, highlighting the immense talent within our club. Though the weather played its part in keeping a few folks at home, the performances were nothing short of spectacular. Our Thespians and tech crew truly gave their best, showing just how hard they’ve worked in preparing for this year’s State conference.
One of the highlights of the evening was the introduction of the 1st Annual Gerald Awards, where we recognized outstanding contributions to the IDC family. It was an exciting moment, and we were thrilled to honor the following individuals:
Crew Ninja – Emery Frazier
Rookie of the Year – Asher Ortman & Norah Rhoad
Rising Star – Addison White
Club All-Star – Willa Cortez (Though Willa was unfortunately home sick, we Facetimed her in for the big moment!)
The Leading Light – Brynn Dunlap
G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Thespians) – Teagan Cortez
These awards celebrate the hard work, creativity, and leadership that make IDC such a special place. We couldn’t be more proud of the dedication and passion of all our members.
Silent Auction Success Despite the Weather
This year marked the first-ever Silent Auction at Oh! the Drama, and despite the weather, it was a huge success. We were fortunate to have 11 incredible items donated by local businesses and friends, which included everything from gift certificates to unique experiences. Because of the snowstorm, we extended the auction to allow everyone a chance to participate, and it was great to see the community come together in support of our club.
Big Announcement: The 2025 Season!
As the night came to a close, we couldn’t wait to share what’s coming up for IDC. We are absolutely thrilled to announce our 2025 season lineup, and we know it’s going to be an exciting year!
Summer 2025: For our special summer production, IDC will present a new show, The SandBox, a parody of the beloved 90s movie The Sandlot. Written by Amanda & Rai, with help from Rai’s brother, David, this show will be submitted for the 20th Anniversary of IndyFringe Festival and will also be submitted to the 2026 South Eastern Theatre Convention.
We can’t wait to bring this creative, fun show to life!Fall 2025: We will be taking not one, but two shows to the Thespian Regional Play Competition. We’re proud to announce that we’ll be competing with Drama Geeks and As It Was. Drama Geeks will represent our high school students, while As It Was will showcase the amazing talent of our middle school students. We couldn’t be more excited for these shows and the growth of our young actors and tech crew!
Gratitude and Excitement for the Future
To all who braved the cold and snowy weather to join us for Oh! the Drama, we want to extend our deepest thanks. Your support means the world to us. We’re so proud of everything our students and staff have accomplished this year, and we can’t wait to take these performances to the State Thespian Conference in just two weeks.
We are incredibly grateful to our IDC family and the community we’re building together. Your energy, dedication, and support make all the difference, and we’re looking forward to a bright future full of drama, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
